Mobile Field Service Applications are no longer just for the Fortune 500, they are for everyone who works away from a desk.
What is Mobile Field Service?
A simple definition of Mobile Field Service is a mobile application for anyone who works outside of the corporate building to provide a customer service. This not only includes traditional delivery and service applications but also anyone who either generates or accesses corporate data in the field. If your employees currently carry a clipboard in the field, you should consider if mobile technology can improve their jobs.
We have broken down the mobile field service space in to the following categories:
Route Accounting
In Route Accounting applications, employees deliver to or service customers on a route. In this case the mobile application manages the routes that the employee will travel and provides detailed information on the service or delivery to be made for each customer on that route. The classic example is customer deliveries, but any application where the employee must visit a set of customers and perform a service or delivery in the field is a potential Route Acounting Application.
Proof of Delivery
In Proof Of Delivery applications, the application is focused on verifying that the customer has received the service or delivery the vendor claims to have provided. Simply by having the customer provide their signature to the mobile application, the vendor has the customer's verification that they have received what the vendor has provided.
Inspection
In Inspection applications the mobile application provides a structured mechanism for recording information during an on-site inspection. By using a mobile application the data is entered once during the actual inspection to ensure that all information is properly collected in a manner that is compatible with the back-end databases. By providing this data integrity, the systems that will ultimately process the information will not require extensive data entry and "cleansing" of the data.
Custom Applications
Not all field applications fit into the standard mobile categories. In these cases, StepOne implements custom mobile applications to directly address any unique customer's scenarios.
