What is Mobile Retail?
Walk into the top retailers in the world and you will find mobile retail everywhere. Where once handheld applications were limited to basic applications such as Cycle Counts and Markdowns, today mobility is found throughout the retail operation.
Stock handlers use mobility to receive and transfer the products, stock the shelves, track inventory, manage the prices, and receive intelligent alerts to assist store personnel and customers. Sales staff use mobility to locate items, check inventory and pricing, generate out-of-stock alerts, and assist the customers. Managers now spend time on the floor, monitoring inventory status, assisting customers, and coordinating staff. Customers now may also use mobility to check prices, locate items, generate wish lists, and shop for their friends.

These applications allow the store manager to get out of the office and manage the store from the floor.
