StepOne Systems teams with IBM to deliver innovative solutions for retail
Announcing StepOne Systems validation of SNAP Mobile Server on the IBM Store Integration Framework solution
PITTSBURGH, PA, August 10, 2006 --StepOne Systems, a retail industry leader in enterprise-class mobility applications, has successfully completed validation of its SNAP (Scalable Network Application Platform) Mobile Server on the IBM Store Integration Framework solution—IBM’s flexible, scalable Java™ 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE), operating environment and componentized architecture, built for retail stores using industry-leading IBM middleware. This paves the way for a new generation of mobility centric retail applications, snapRETAIL. The Ready for IBM Retail Store Innovations – Store Integration Framework initiative brings together platform-independent software vendors that deliver proven solutions designed and built for the retail industry. Through this initiative, IBM works with select IBM Business Partners to validate solutions that meet a rigorous assessment of next-generation, open-standards-based store environments.
Based on the SNAP framework and SIF, snapRETAIL enables enterprise mobility to consistently & reliably scale Through field-tested, flexible and scalable mobility components, the SNAP technology platform spans all enterprise mobility solutions while serving as the key integration point between enterprise and mobile systems. According to Todd Berner, StepOne president and general manager, a SIF-Certified version of snapRETAIL is critical for retailers to fully capitalize on web-oriented architecture. “Many of our customers are migrating to an enterprise web-oriented infrastructure,” says Mr. Berner. “Because many of these customers are also IBM WebSphere users, StepOne Systems was asked to extend this infrastructure to their mobility applications. “ StepOne Systems provides the software and services needed to enable complete retail mobility. Ranging from traditional retail software applications, such as Inventory Management, Material Movement or Price Management, to Shopper Experience Applications including Registries, Product Locators or Queue-Busting, StepOne Systems provides a comprehensive offering of mobility-enabling products and services.
Mr. Berner says that retailers are now ready to realize the full potential of these technologies. “While mobile computing and real-time access to enterprise information has delivered incredible efficiencies to retail, these initial successes just scratch the surface. We look forward to working with IBM to enable retailers to fully capitalize on this opportunity.”
